For over 30 years, Market Response International (MRI) has worked “hands on” in almost all aspects of international direct marketing and management: Project managementAs an example of “hands on” work, MRI managing partner Richard Miller served as the Executive Director of the International Mailers’ Advisory Group (IMAG) for 11 years, coordinating all activities of the trade association from MRI offices in Chatham, MA. One of Mr. Miller’s prime responsibilities was representing IMAG member interests at the Universal Postal Union www.upu.int in Berne, Switzerland. International research Under contract with the Universal Postal Union, MRI performed primary and secondary research on the postal and direct marketing infrastructure of 86 countries. The results were published on the UPU website, available to all 190 UPU member countries. The project took 18 months with a staff of 4. Additionally, MRI staff has traveled throughout the world in search of specific market information and contacts for selected clients. MRI offices house current data on most of the major markets of the world. MRI works with several industries, particularly financial and publishing, to research, plan and implement market expansion in various regions of the world. MRI has extensive worldwide contacts and an in-depth knowledge of the dynamics of international direct marketing, including postal and express logistics and regulatory requirements. Copy and CreativeThe ability to write persuasive copy and direct the creative aspects of a direct marketing project – domestic or international - is essential to the success of any consulting or management firm. Where required, MRI either writes or directs the creative for almost all projects it undertakes. See clients. Information and EducationTeaching and guiding industry managers and employees is an essential part of MRI’s role. MRI principal Richard Miller wrote Multinational Direct Marketing: The Methods and the Markets, published by McGraw-Hill in 1996 (copies available on Amazon.com). He also produced and edited The World Guide to Direct Mail Marketing, published by the Universal Postal Union for distribution to postal administrations and ministries throughout the world (every member of the US Congress received a copy, courtesy of PostCom – www.postcom.org). A limited number of copies are still available. Also, before his retirement from his IMAG duties, Mr. Miller wrote and published The Cross-Border Report, a newsletter devoted to international postal and marketing issues. Information TransferThe advent of the Internet and the World Wide Web has transformed the way international marketing and logistics are now performed. We can now support our traditional promotions via the Internet, take orders, confirm and track shipments, receive payment, settle claims, handle customer service and then up-sell and up-grade. All without leaving our computer screen! For a more complete description of the use of IT in today’s cross-border marketing, click on THEN and NOW. |
